Four Earn AVCA All-Region Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky.– The American Volleyball Coaches Association released All-Region Lists for the 2024 Women's Volleyball season. Eastern University Women's Volleyball had four players recognized by Region V coaches. Hannah Pringle earned her second first-team honor, and Logan Martin, Bridgette Kelly, and Grace Casagrande all received Honorable Mention.

With the top two teams in the nation dominating the Region V list, the Eagles joined Salisbury University as the only team other than Juniata and Johns Hopkins to have multiple players on the list. Juniata, the two-time defending National Champions, had six players recognized, and second-ranked Hopkins had three players on the list. Juniata is unbeaten on the year, and Hopkins has just two losses, and one of those came against Juniata.

Pringle led the Eagles with 377 kills on the season. In Eastern's ten matches against nationally ranked opponents, the junior outside hitter averaged over four kills per set while seeing her hitting percentage drop only slightly to .224. She posted double-figure kills in all but three of her matches, in those three Eastern three-set wins she had  two matches with nine kills and one with eight. She reached the 1,000 kill mark for her career on a 17-kill night against New York University. She posted season-best 24-kill matches against Swarthmore and Trinity.

Martin averaged 2.81 kills per set  and hit .336 for the season. The senior middle hitter reached 1,000 career kills with an 18-kill effort against Christopher Newport University. Her ability to attack on the move opened up the offense for the Eagles. She missed the final two matches of the regular season and the opening match of the MAC Tournament before coming back in a limited role for the MAC Championship match. Her 228 kills this year moves her to 1117 for her career which is 11th on the Eastern career list.

Kelly picks up her third regional recognition. The 2024 MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year was able to impact matches while hitting, blocking, or serving.  She finished third on the team with 2.37 kills per set while hitting .329. She led the Eagles in blocks with 79 and aces with 49. She is seventh on Eastern's career block list 365 and fifth in aces with 199.

Casagrande earns AVCA recognition for the second time. The three-time MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year finished 2024 with 555 digs. Her 5.5 digs per set puts her in the top-20 nationally in that category. She posted a career-best and program-record 40 digs in Eastern's five set loss at Trinity (TX). Her 2195 career digs puts her behind only Rylie Haas on Eastern's career list.

With her spot on the Region V First Team, Pringle will receive consideration for AVCA All-America Honors.
