NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference today announced All-Conference lists and special awards for football. Fresh off a strong second season of varsity competition, Eastern Football had eight players earn All-MAC recognition, three more than last year. Gashawn Moody earned his second straight First-Team All-MAC selection, while seven other players were recognized as All-MAC Honorable Mention.

Moody, a senior strong safety from Philadelphia, was named to the All-MAC First Team after another excellent season in Eastern's defensive backfield. One of Eastern's defensive leaders, Moody finished third in the MAC in total tackles with 103 and solo tackles with 57. Additionally, Moody finished the campaign with four pass breakups, five tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. He finished with double-digit tackles in six of Eastern's 10 games, and his forced fumble against Misercordia back on Nov. 2 proved to be the turning point in an eventual 31-10 victory. He tied his career-high with 16 total tackles against Widener back on Sept. 14, and had five games where he recorded five or more solo tackles.

Quarterback Brett Nabb put together a strong graduate campaign as Eastern's No. 1 signal caller. In the MAC, the Avalon, N.J. native finished tied for third in rushing touchdowns with 11, third in scoring with 66 points, fifth in total offense with 1,959 yards, and fifth in rushing yards with 739 yards, an average of 73.9 yards and 5.2 yards per carry. Four of his rushing scores were 20 yards or longer. He scored a career-high 70-yard rushing touchdown against LVC on Sept. 21, and scored a pair of touchdowns from 46 and 20 yards out, the latter the game-winner, in Eastern's season-defining 24-14 victory over Stevenson. In Eastern's thrilling come-from-behind win over FDU-Florham, Nabb threw for a career-high 245 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning 77-yard touchdown pass, also a career-best, to Eddie Swinton in the fourth quarter.

In his first year as Eastern's No. 1 running back, Jeremiah Avrilien formed a three-headed monster with Nabb and Curtis Johnson to lead a lethal Eagles' rushing attack and earn his first All-Conference honor in the process. The sophomore from Miami Gardens was seventh in the MAC in rushing yards with 697 yards at 5.2 yards per carry and 69.7 yards per contest. Avrilien finished the campaign with five total touchdowns, four on the ground and one through the air. He rushed for a career-high 134 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns in Eastern's 31-10 win over Misericorida on Nov. 2, and also scored a pair of touchdowns against Albright in the Eagles' 41-20 triumph back on Sept. 28. He caught his first receiving touchdown on a career-long 42 yard reception in Eastern's 37-33 win over FDU-Florham in the season finale.

A 10-game starter at left guard for the second-straight season, junior Justin McNulty earned his first All-Conference selection. Despite his smaller stature, McNulty enforced his will on opposing defensive linemen throughout the 2024 season. With his stout blocking, the Eagles rushed for 1797 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns on 342 carries. Furthermore, Eastern runners ran for 163.5 yards per contest and averaged 4.8 yards per carry.

A weapon in the return game all fall, sophomore receiver Chris Rivera earned his first All-MAC selection as Eastern's primary kick returner. In nine games played, the Raleigh, N.C. native finished second in the MAC with 688 return yards, an average of 23.7 yards per return, tied for second in the league. He finished with a season-high 61-yard kickoff return against Stevenson on Oct. 26 and also recorded a 43-yard return against Misericorida the following week, both of which set up Eastern scoring drives. Rivera also recorded 11 receptions for 112 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns, one against Widener on Sept. 14 and the other against Stevenson on Oct. 26.

Maurice McCray was a stout member of Eastern's defensive line rotation throughout the season, earning his first All-MAC honor in his first season with the team. The junior from Philadelphia was fifth on the Eagles with 4.5 tackles for loss, and finished the campaign with 23 total tackles, two blocked kicks, two quarterback hurries, and a fumble recovery. He finished with a season-high five tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss against Widener on Sept. 21.

As the season progressed, Jason Bateman established himself as one of the Eagles' top linebackers. The sophomore from Upper Darby finished with a career-highs in multiple categories, which included solo tackles (31), total tackles (55), tackles for loss (nine), interceptions (one), and passes defended (three). Bateman led the team in tackles for loss, was second in total tackles, and third in sacks (2.5). He scored his first career touchdown against Widener on a 45-yard pick six on Sept. 14, and recorded a career-best 10 tackles against Stevenson on Oct. 26. Bateman also finished with a pair of tackles for loss against Delaware Valley on Nov. 9 and FDU-Florham on Nov. 16.

John Westfield rounded out Eastern's All-Conference selections as the league's honorable mention punter. The Northeast Philadelphia product punted 32 times for 1,152 yards, 14 of which fell inside the 20-yard line and three traveling for 50 or more yards. He recorded a career-long 67-yard boot against King's back on Oct. 20.

In its second full season, the Eagles finished with a 5-5 record overall and a 5-4 record in the MAC.
