COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - On a Saturday afternoon, Track and Field competed at the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational at Ursinus College. Both the men and women teams had an impressive day with multiple top five performances.
For the women,
Paige Carpenter finished first in pole vault (3.05 meters), Carpenter's performance is her fourth highest mark of her outdoor career. Teammate
Hailey Shreffler placed fourth in the 1500 meter run (5:09.03).
Other standout performances for the women,
Rainee Wright finished seventh in both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles, as Sammie Peters finished seventh in the 200 meter dash.
For the men,
Andre Taylor placed first in the triple jump (12.89 meters). Junior jumper
Jayden Smith followed with a first place finish in the long jump (6.08 meters).
Solomon Rios,
Ryle Mellinger,
DaNeal Williams, and
Astin Daniel finished second in the 4x400 meter relay (3:36.93), while Jean Michelet-Andre finished fifth in the 100 meter dash finals (11.79).
The men performed great, distance runners Mellinger and Daniel finished third and fourth in the 800 meter run, as Michelet-Andre and Rios took fourth and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles.
Eastern Track and Field will be back in action at the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st at Widener University
