READING, Pa. - On Friday at Alvernia, Eastern Track and Field competed on the first day of the 2023 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Two Eagles set personal records, while four individuals and one relay team scored points for the Eagles. After day one, the men finished with nine points, while the women scored one.
Jean-Michelet Andre qualified for the 60 hurdle finals on Saturday, placing seventh with a time of 8.70.
Andre Taylor placed sixth in the long jump with a personal best of 6.61 meters, while
Nolan Case placed sixth in the long jump with a season-best vault of 3.85 meters. Additionally, Eastern's 4x200 team of Andre,
Chandler Koehler,
DaNeal Williams, and
Marvin Moore finished fourth with a time of 1:34.56.
For the women,
Divora Bekele captured the Eagles' lone point, placing eighth in the long jump at a career-best 5.03 meters.
"Day 1 of Conference came with some big performances," Eastern Head Coach
Will Mills said. "We had some athletes score in events we were not expecting, and we had some score higher than they were ranked. The conference meet brings out the best in us. Looking forward to Day 2."
Eastern Track and Field will be back in action tomorrow for the second and final day of the 2023 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Events are set to begin at 11:00 am.
