COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - In another strong performance on Saturday afternoon, Eastern Women's Track and Field collected nine top-10 finishes, and five top-five performances, at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College.
Senior Taylor Bynum-Bain put together a tremendous day for the Eagles in both the 60-meter Dash and the Long Jump. The Philadelphia, Pa. native won the Long Jump with a leap of 5.22 meters, the second-best jump in program history for indoor, while also breaking the program record in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 8.01 in the preliminary round.
Fellow senior Mary Bernotas continued her strong indoor season, finishing second in the 800-meter (2:25.31), while Aliza White-Vega finished as runner-up in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.05 meters. In other individual results, Brianna Ulaky placed fifth in the 400-meter (1:02.74), Cristina D'Amato came in sixth in the High Jump (1.40 meters), and Divora Bekele and DeSante Clark placed sixth (9.63 meters) and seventh (9.54 meters) in the Triple Jump, respectively.
In team competition, the Eagles' 4x4 team of Ulaky, Lindsey Crawford, Hailey Shreffler, and Samantha Peters collected first-place honors with a time of 4:23.17, the fourth-fastest time in program history. Lasty, the Eagles' 4x2 team of Peters, White-Vega, Crawford, and Ulaky finished fifth with a time of 1:53.78.
"We came to play today," Eastern Head Coach Will Mills said. "We were competitive and we were having fun. We demonstrated what happens when you take care of the little things and focus on the things you can control. Today was a great day to be an Eagle."
Eastern will head back to Selinsgrove this coming Saturday to take part in the Susquehanna invitational. Events are set to begin at 9:00 am.
