Men's Soccer Adds Glodi Konga as Full-Time Assistant

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Head Coach Kevin Brenner announced that he has added Glodi Konga to the Eastern University Men's Soccer staff. Konga, the program's first full-time assistant, will aid Brenner in all aspects of the program.

Konga holds a UEFA B license and played collegiately, first at Cairn and then at Liberty University. He holds a BS in Exercise Science and an MS in Sports Management from Liberty. He is in a PhD program for Sports Leadership at Concordia University in Chicago.

He played after college in the ASL with the Philadelphia Fury and served as the Head Coach at the University of Valley Forge and as an assistant coach at Haverford College. He was the Head of Coaching at United Philly Soccer Club and has taken several teams on international tours with Athletes in Action and Ambassadors Football.

Brenner is pleased to have a full-time assistant to continue to build strong recruiting classes and to work in player development. Eastern will play several developmental games this fall. Konga will oversee those games and the building of that schedule. In addition, he will be involved in film breakdown, practice planning, and a secondary responsibility in the athletic department.

Eastern University Athletics is adding several full-time assistants to better serve student-athletes and facilitate continued growth in the department.

"Glodi emerged from a very strong pool of candidates," Brenner said. "He will serve our student-athletes in many different capacities that are all aligned with the team and institutions core values. We are thrilled to have someone with his knowledge of the game and dedication to the growth of our student-athletes both on and off the field."

"I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to work with the men's soccer program at Eastern," Konga said. "It is with a deep appreciation that I would like to thank Coach Brenner and Eric McNelley for entrusting me with the chance to be a part of the staff here in St. Davids. Throughout the process, I have been impressed by the culture that is being established her, and I am humbled to have the opportunity to become a part of it. I believe there is an opportunity to achieve great things at this university, and I can't wait to get started working with the team."

Eastern University Men's Soccer won MAC Freedom Championships in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Though Men's Soccer did not play a conference schedule in 2020, Eastern moved to the MAC Commonwealth and will continue to compete in that league.

The Eagles will open their 2021 schedule with a match at DeSales on Sept. 1. The team's first MAC Commonwealth match will be at Hood on Oct. 2nd.
