Cope Claims Philly-SIDA Academic Honor

PHILADELPHIA— The Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association today announced its 2025 Academic All-Area Team for Women's Soccer. Eastern University forward Evan Cope was one of 11 outstanding area student-athletes recognized for excellence on the field and in the classroom.

Cope led the Eagles with ten goals and five assists and earned First-Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a forward. The graduate student from Jacksonville, Fla. scored 38 career goals and finished fifth on Eastern's career list for total goals. He also excelled in the classroom with a degree in Biology.

Cope joined student-athletes from Penn, Saint Joseph's, Haverfrod, Rowan, Arcadia, Neumann, and West Chester on the list.

He is the first Eastern player to earn a spot on the list since Jake Sankey '20 was earned his second honor in 2019. Sankey and Jacob Myers'19 earned spots in 2018. Jadon Ramsing '18 earned spots in 2015, 2016, and 2017. JD Saracco joined him on the list in 2015. Ben Barnhart and Eric Giovagnoli earned recognition in 2014.

The team, voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area, was selected from nominated student-athletes from those same institutions. Nominees must be in at least their second year at their current institution and carry at least a 3.30 GPA. The 11 individuals honored this year had an average GPA of 3.78. All eleven earned all-conference performers with many earning regional and national honors as well.

Rowan University senior Johnny Troiana was named as Academic All-Area Performer of the Year.
