Men's Tennis Falls at Home

Box Score ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Ryan Torresin won a pair of points, but Eastern University Men's Tennis dropped a 7-2 decision to the visiting Lions from Penn State Abington.

Torresin and doubles partner Karl Finkbeiner earned an 8-4 win in the top, doubles flight, but the Eagles trailed 2-1 after doubles play concluded. Matt Cradduck and Connor Mooney played a close match at second doubles before falling 8-5.

The visitors grabbed all the early results in singles to secure the match, and it seemed that Torresin might go quietly when he dropped the opening set of his match by a 6-1 score. As the courts cleared from all the earlier matches, Torresin grabbed control of the second set, which he won 6-0. He fell behind in the super-tiebreaker and had to fight off three match points before scoring three-straight points to close out the match.

The Eagles start MAC Freedom play at FDU-Florham on Saturday.
