Box Score ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Tennis returned to the courts with a convincing 9-0 win over the visiting Rosemont College Ravens (0-2). The Eagles lost only eight games in six singles-match wins.
Ryan Torresin and Karl Finbeiner started the Eastern momentum with a stunningly efficient 8-0 win at the top doubles spot. The pair worked well together and were able to control the tempo of the match from start to finish.
Andrew O'Brien and Matt Cradduck each picked up his first collegiate win in an 8-0 victory in the third doubles spot.
Antonio Lopez and
Connor Mooney had the tightest match of the afternoon at the second doubles spot. The duo had a pair of match points slip away and also fought back to deuce twice up 8-7. They scored three straight points to close out the match with a 9-7 win.
Mooney, Torresin, and Cradduck each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins. Finkbeiner dropped a pair of games in a 6-0, 6-2 match that was closer than the score appeared. Though he was never in danger of losing the match, the freshman had several extended points and closely contested games. Lopez won his singles match 8-5 in a pro-set, and
James Blizzard competed the sweep for the Eagles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles.
"It was good for us to get outside and back on the courts, " Head Coach
Mark Spangler said. "We controlled the matches well and were able to work on some things to get to the net. We have some big matches coming up soon."
The Eagles are back on the court tomorrow with against Eagle Road rival Cabrini University.
