Men's Tennis Drops Season Finale

Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – Eastern Men's Tennis fell 6-3 to host Misericordia on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, both the Eagles and the Cougars ended the season in a tie for the fourth and final spot in the playoffs with Misericordia winning on the head-to-head tie breaker. 

Ryan Ellison and Vusisizwe Ntonga remained perfect on the season in doubles as a team winning the eighth doubles match by the final score of 8-6. It was their fifth win in the third doubles spot this season with the other three coming in the second spot. 

Grant Williams ended up playing the last match of his career today but ended it on a high note winning first singles in three sets. After dropping the first set 3-6, Willaims responded with two straight wins in sets two and three by scores of 6-2, 6-3. With the win, Williams moves to 9-5 on the season in singles play. 

"It was a good win for Grant to end his collegiate career on," said Head Coach Mark Spangler. "In all four season's with the team, he missed only one match for us. He was a consistent and dedicated player for the program over his four years here and will be missed." 

Ryan Ellison posted the only other victory in singles play for the Eagles winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. With the win, Ellison moves to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the sixth singles spot earning his sixth straight victory. 

Eastern will now turn its attention to the offseason and begin preparations for the 2016-17 campaign.
