Men's Tennis Falls at King's

Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Eastern Men's Tennis fell to host King's College on Saturday afternoon 8-1. The Monarchs swept the singles matches and took two of three doubles matches.

"Kings is really strong at the top of the lineup, so we struggled at first doubles and first and second singles," said Head Coach Mark Spangler

After dropping the first and third singles sets by scores of 8-0 and 8-0 Vusisizwe Notonga and Ryan Ellison claimed the lone point on the day for the Eagles (2-5, 0-1 MAC Freedom) winning 9-7.

"Second doubles had a great match," continued Spangler. "They were down 6-5 and went on to win the match 9-7. Ryan took an overhead right in the face midway through the match but shook it off and proceeded to play the best doubles match of his career."

Ellison went on to battle hard in the fourth single match but would eventually fall in straight sets 7-5, 7-5. Christian Torres also fought hard in the fifth singles match but would also fall in straight sets 7-6, 6-2.

"Vusi and Ryan both served and returned extremely well today," continued Spangler. "They got to the net a lot and finished a lot of points with overheads."

"We fought hard in our singles matches but couldn't pull out any wins," concluded Spangler.

Eastern travels to Cabrini on April 5th for a 3:30 pm match.
