ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Men's Tennis powered past the Lancaster Bible College Chargers 6-3 on Monday afternoon after sweeping doubles play.
The Eagles' No. 1 doubles team of Grant Williams and Kyle Berner collected an 8-4 win over LBC's Alex Derus and Nathan Amspacher.
The No. 2 and 3 doubles matches ended up being a little closer, but both of those Eastern duos won 9-7. The No. 3 pair of Christian Torres and Antonio Lopez trailed seven games to one, but rallied to win the next eight straight games to take the match.
Eastern's odd-numbered singles flights won their matches. Grant Williams knocked off Alex Derus in the No. 1 match 7-5, 6-4. Mitchell Weaver took the No. 3 match 6-3, 6-3, and Christian Torres captured the No. 5 match 6-1, 6-0.
The Eagles have three conference matches this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
