ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Wednesday afternoon's men's tennis match between Eastern University and Arcadia University was suspended because of darkness with the score tied at 4-4. The remaining match is No. 3 singles with Eastern's Tyler Schultz and Alexander Colton knotted up 1-1 going into the third set.
Schultz will win the match for the Eagles if he wins the third set which will be completed on Monday at 5:30 p.m. [UPDATE: Because of rain Monday, the match will be completed on Tuesday afternoon.]
Eagles head coach Mark Spangler said he is confident with Schultz in this situation. "Tyler can handle the pressure," Spangler said.
The Eagles could have closed out the match earlier, but were unable to put the first two doubles matches away. Grant Williams and Dan Fowler led 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles match, but lost seven consecutive games to fall 8-6. Mylon Weaver and Kyle Berner led the No. 2 doubles 7-4 but lost the match 9-8.
Williams and Fowler bounced back in singles play with Williams winning 6-3, 6-2 and Fowler winning 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The Eagles finish the week at Bryn Athyn College tomorrow and at Wilkes University on Saturday.
