ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern Men's Tennis vanquished the Neumann University Knights 8-1 on Monday afternoon to improve to 3-3 on the season.
The Eagles continue to clean up against Colonial States Athletic Conference opponents, defeating their third straight CSAC school. That streak will be tested on Wednesday against neighboring rival Cabrini College.
Grant Williams and Dan Fowler took care of business 8-1 in No. 1 doubles. The duos of Kyle Berner and Mylon Weaver, and Tyler Schultz and Mitchell Weaver had to grind it out in their doubles matches, but won 9-7 and 8-6, respectively. Eagles head coach Mark Spangler said that the key to Monday's win was getting the sweep in doubles. "We've spent a considerable amount of time working on doubles," he said. "We are improving in that phase of the game."
In singles play, Williams bounced back from a 6-2 defeat in the first set and rallied to win 6-3 in the second set and 10-7 in the tie-breaking set.
Eastern's match against Cabrini on Wednesday is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
