STEVENSON, Md.--Eastern Men's Tennis was served its first loss of the season, dropping its Thursday contest to Stevenson University 7-2.
The Eagles two wins came in singles' play. Stevenson swept Eastern's doubles' teams 8-1, 8-2, 8-0.
Eastern's Dan Fowler earned a win in the No. 1 spot, topping Stevenson's Robert Baker 6-2, 6-1. Fowler remains undefeated in singles' play this season. Eagles' head coach Mark Spangler commented on Fowler's hard work this season and in Thursday's game. "Dan was consistent today and used his backhand effectively," he said. "He's mentally tough out there and doesn't get rattled."
Eastern's Tyler Schultz won the No. 3 match, dropping the first set three games to six, coming back to win the second set 6-4 and claiming the tiebreaker 10-8. Mylon Weaver also forced a tiebreaker after splitting his first two sets, but fell 10-4 in the tiebreak.
The Eagles play at Penn St. Abington on April 3 at 3 p.m.
