Box Score

ROSEMONT, Pa.- Eastern University Men's Tennis opened its 2013 season with a convincing 8-1 win at Rosemont. The Eagles (1-0) dominated doubles and controlled the first five flights of singles for the victory.

All six Eastern players played singles and doubles, and three Eastern players picked up their first career wins. Dan Fowler teamed with Mylon Weaver to pick up an 8-5 win at first doubles. After picking up his first win in the doubles match, Fowler cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top singles spot.

Grant Williams won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles. The second-set blemish was the only one of the day for the freshman from York. Williams teamed with Tyler Schultz to earn an 8-0 win at second doubles. Schultz did not drop a game in his efficient win at third singles.

Weaver had to work through some difficulty at the fourth singles spot, but the junior pulled away to a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Codie Todd was a double-winner with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles and an 8-0 win with Jason Spargo at third doubles. Spargo picked up his first collegiate win in the doubles match before dropping a tough 8-6, 7-5 result in the sixth singles flight.

"We will have tougher matches next week," Head Coach Mark Spangler related, "but it was good to see the guys get their first collegiate wins today."

The Eagles are back in action next Tuesday at Neumann University.
