LANCASTER, Pa.- Eastern University Men's Tennis rebounded from a
tough loss on Sunday with a convincing 8-1 win at Lancaster Bible
College Monday afternoon. The Eagles won at all six singles spots.
"I
was really impressed with the way Mylon [Weaver] played," Head Coach
Mark Spangler said after the match, " He battled in some big moments to
earn the point at fifth singles."
Tyler Hoagland cruised to a 6-2,
6-4 win at the top singles spot and teamed with Jonny Shenk to battle
to an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. Shenk won his singles match 6-3, 6-3.
Tyler
Shultz and Codie Todd teamed up for an 8-2 win at third singles. Shultz
scuffled to a 7-5 first set win in his singles match and turned it on
for a 6-0 win in the second set. Todd won 6-3, 6-0 at sixth singles.
Spangler noted that his team was happy to get back out on the courts and start working after Sunday's match.
"We
have King's this week," Spangler said, "and we will want to work on
getting to the net with more consistency as we prepare for them."
The Eagles (4-4) are at King's in an important Freedom Conference Match on Wednesday.
