ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern Men's Tennis led 2-1 at the end of doubles play on Wednesday against Cabrini College, but because of rain, the Eagles had to wait until Thursday to finish the match.

Once play resumed on Thursday, the Eagles split singles play 3-3--good enough for the 5-4 match win.

With the win, the Eagles improved to an even 6-6 this season.

On Wednesday's doubles matches, Eastern's No. 1 and No. 3 Tyler Hoagland and Jonny Shenk manhandled their opponents 8-3. Coach Mark Spangler said that the match was probably the best overall match this season that his first doubles have played. Spangler noted that both Hoagland and Shenk served excellently, with neither having their serve broken that match.

Eastern's No. 2 and No. 5, Tyler Schultz and Mylon Weaver battled in their match, but fell 9-7. The third doubles match also went to 9-7, but Eastern's Herschel Dube and Codie Todd came out on the winning end.

In singles play, Hoagland, a senior playing his final home match, earned his second win of the match, topping Cabrini's No. 1 6-3, 6-3.

Three matches in singles play went three sets, with Eastern winning two of those marathon matches. Dube dropped his first set 2-6, but came back to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-4. Schultz won his three-set match 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Shenk had match point in his third set, but was unable to get the win. He did fend off several opposing match points, including once with a diving return.

Eastern will be looking for its first conference win this season as they play at FDU-Florham on Saturday at 11 am.
