Eastern University Men's Tennis enjoyed their return home as they overwhelmed the Lancaster Bible College Chargers in
non-conference action on Thursday.
The Eagles bounced back with a strong effort this afternoon after suffering a tough league loss on Tuesday.
The doubles teams set the tone for the match. The Eagles dominated all three matchups. Jordan Gates and Tyler Hoagland cruised to an 8-0 win at first doubles, and Bryan Arnett and Dan Wilson won 8-1 at second doubles. Josh Hall and Jonny Shenk encountered more difficulty, but they persevered to take the third doubles victory by an 8-5 score.
The singles matches followed suit. Arnett did not surrender a game at second singles. Gates seemed to be on his way to a similar victory before his opponent had to retire late in the first set. Chris Clark battled to a 6-4, 6-3 win at the six spot.
"This win gives us a lot of confidence going into our next conference match against FDU-Florham on Saturday," said head coach Mark Spangler.
The Eagles host the Devils from FDU-Florham at 1:00 PM.
