"Today was a great day for tennis," said head coach Mark Spangler. "Our guys came out with confidence and stayed steady throughout the match."

Eastern swept the doubles with three convincing wins. Jordan Gates and Tyler Hoagland dominated their first doubles match, winning 8-0. 

"Our net play in doubles was much better today," added Spangler. "Our serving and serve return was also much improved today. We're going to continue to work on these things as well as continuing to finish out points and sets as we approach our match on Friday against King's."

Gates used steady baseline play to return to the win column in his first singles match 6-1, 6-0. Bryan Arnett continued his second singles dominance with a 6-2, 6-0 victory, and Dan Wilson used an overpowering serve to get off to a quick start. Wilson did not drop a game at third singles.

Hoagland and Jonny Shenk also won for Eastern. Hoagland emerged witha 6-0, 6-3 win at four and Shenk evened his season record at sixth singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

Eastern (6-6 2-1 Freedom) returns home for an important Freedom Conference contest against King's on Friday.
