Men's Tennis Sweeps Cabrini 9-0

Box Score

The Eastern University men's tennis team has had a rough set of non-conference matches recently. However, their diligence and attention to detail finally paid of on Friday afternoon as the Eagles downed cross town rival Cabrini 9-0.

The Eagles dominated doubles sweeping both first and second doubles 8-0. In fact, Eastern only dropped one game at third doubles in an 8-1 win.

The dominance in doubles quickly carried over into singles play. Jordan Gates and Bryan Arnett swept their first and second singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Gates and Arnett did not drop a game all afternoon, taking into consideration both their doubles and singles matches.

"I'm very happy with how we played today," praised head coach Mark Spangler following the match. "After our last match we really tried to focus on closing out games and sets. We were much better at that today, especially at third doubles. Josh and Jonny did an excellent job of finishing points."

"This match was a huge confidence builder for us," added Spangler. "The momentum we gained this afternoon will help us as we go into another non-conference match against Messiah on Monday."

After the Eagles face off with the Falcons on Monday, they will take a break for the Easter holiday before they dive into Freedom Conference play on Tuesday, April 6 at Manhattanville College. Eastern returns home on Thursday, April 8 in a non-conference match against Lancaster Bible at 3:30 PM in St. Davids, Pa.
