Men's Tennis Drops Duel With Alvernia

Box Score

The Eagles started the match with an 8-0 win at second doubles by Bryan Arnett and Dan Wilson. The duo also picked up wins at second and third singles respectively.

"One of our goals coming into this match was our doubles play," said head coach Mark Spangler. "We got a great win from Bryan and Dan and our first doubles team showed significant improvement. However, we can still improve on making better decisions on where to place the ball against the opposing team."

Despite the loss, the Eagles were in every match. Eastern played in six tie breakers throughout the afternoon, but were only able to turn one of those into their favor.

"Closing out sets and winning tie breakers is something we have been focusing on all season," remarked Spangler. "If we can concentrate on finishing game points and break points we will put ourselves into a great position to win each match."

The Eagles will be able to put these goals to the test rather quickly as they travel across Eagle Rd. to take on Cabrini College in another non-conference match on Friday. The match is set to start at 3:30 PM.
