Men's Basketball to Return to Purchase

The Eagles (17-8, 10-6) have won 12 of their last 16 games and in that stretch have beaten every Freedom Conference team at least once.

Eastern's young squad turned the tables on the Valiants on January 31 with a decisive 73-58 win in St. Davids. Sophomore center Don Kaiser registered a career best 20 points to lead four Eagles in double figures. Eastern led that game from start to finish, and led 64-41 with just over four minutes to play.

Eastern enters the game on a three game winning streak. Manhattanville finished in a tie for first with a 12-4league mark. League coaches anticipated the Valiants would be in a rebuilding year following the graduation of four starters from a team that earned a share of the Conference regular season title last year, but the Valiants have rebuilt quickly around team defense and the scoring of Wesley Wicks, Trevoy Pointer, and Angelo LaRoche.

Both the Valiants and the Eagles are near the top of the league in scoring defense. Manhattanville holds their opponents to under 60 points per game, while Eastern limits their competition to just 63 points a contest.

The winner of this evening's contest will take on the winner of the game between DeSales and Wilkes on Saturday. Tonight's game will be the second game of a doubleheader at Manhattanville's Kennedy Gymnasium and should start at around 8:00 pm. Those unable to make the trip can listen live or follow livestats via Manhattanville's Athletic website www.govaliants.com.
