Onyeka Earns First Academic All-MAC Honor

NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference today released its Academic All-MAC Men's Basketball squad for the 2025-2026 season. Following a strong season both on the court and in the classroom, Eastern University senior forward Olise Onyeka claimed his first Academic All-MAC accolade. He becomes the first Eagle since Jaron Fairweather in 2023 to earn a spot on the Academic All-MAC team.

Academic All-MAC teams are selected by vote for performance in the classroom and in competition from nominees of all 16 MAC Institutions. Individuals have to earn at least a 3.2 semester GPA to be nominated.

Onyeka, a Business Administration major, also earned All-MAC Commonwealth First Team honors this past winter. He led the MAC Commonwealth and was 23rd nationally with 10.7 rebounds per game. He posted 16 doubles-doubles in 24 games, which led the MAC Commonwealth.

He was also efficient scoring a basketball at 16.3 points per game, which was ninth in the MAC Commonwealth. Furthermore, he was tough on opposing offenses, blocking 52 shots and averaging 2.2 blocks per game, which was second in the league. He finished his Eastern career second on the all-time list with 146 rejections.

In league play, the Cedar Park, Texas native shot 45.2 percent from beyond the arc and grabbed close to 12 rebounds per contest. He ended his Eastern career with 823 points and 506 rebounds.
