Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls at York

YORK, Pa.— In a final regular-season road test, Eastern University Men's Basketball had things start poorly and never really get much better in an 86-63 loss at York.

The host Spartans celebrated their seniors before the match and kept celebrating with a 23-to-3 run over a seven-minute stretch early. Jaden Rowe scored nine of his game-high 24 in the decisive run. The Eagles pulled to within 20 points on a Connor Fleet 3-pointer with five minutes left, but York scored 11 of the final 13 points of the half to lead 49-29 at the break.

Winning at York was going to be a tough test, but with several key squad members battling illness, a comeback was not in the works.

The Eagles kept the deficit in the mid 20's for most of the second half, but were never able to cut the lead further.

Dejuan Taylor finished with 16 points and DeRon Sherman had 10. Rowe was the only York player in double-figures.

The loss turns each of Eastern's final two games into elimination games. If they win both they will secure a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. Eastern hosts Alvernia on Tuesday at 7 before closing the season with a 4 pm game against Hood next Saturday.
