ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - In just its second year, Eastern Flag Football will host the 2026 Atlantic East Flag Football Championships on Saturday. The Eagles clinched home field advantage, and the regular season championship, by going 15-1 in conference play, which included a 14-13 win over Marymount last weekend, their first win over the Saints in program history.
Led by an explosive offense and dominant defense, Eastern finished 19-2 in the regular season. The Eagles averaged 35 points per contest and outscored their opponents 666-132. As of today, the Eagles have amassed 1,159 yards on the ground and another 3,278 yards through the air. Sophomore quarterback
Kira Green, coming off a First-Team All-Atlantic East selection last year, was even better in her second season as the team's starting quarterback. Green competed 319 passes for 3,258 yards and 59 touchdowns, 40 more than her first year. She was also effective on the ground, rushing for 283 yards and seven more scores.
Fellow sophomore
Kyla Massenburg led the rushing attack, running for a team-high 714 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging close to seven yards per carry. Massenburg was also the team's top defensive lineman, using her speed and quickness to accumulate 23 sacks and 44 tackles for loss. Massenburg averaged two sacks per contest, and led the team with 115 total tackles.
The Eagles' receiving core was led by seniors
Jeriyah Johnson and
Damiyae Moyet. The duo combined for 160 receptions for 1,584 yards for 37 touchdowns. Johnson emerged as the No. 1 option, catching 93 yards for 819 yards and 20 touchdowns, both team highs. Moyet also had another strong season on the outside, recording 67 receptions for 765 yards and 17 touchdowns. First-year receiver
Molly Schellpeper was an effecient third option, corralling 51 passes for 579 yards and seven touchdowns.
As it was last year, the Eastern defense was a dominant force all season long. The Eagles allowed just 6.9 points per game and hold opposing offenses in check. The Eagles allowed just 47.7 rushing yards and 108.6 passing yards per game. Additionally, the Eagles were ballhawks, recording 53 interceptions. Stephanie White led the team with 17 pass breakups.
The 2026 Atlantic East Flag Football Championships will begin at 10:00 am tomorrow. The No. 1 seeded Eagles will face off against No. 5 Holy Family to begin the day. No. 2 Marymount, who won the Atlantic East title last spring, will play No. 3 Immaculata at 12 noon. The championship match will begin at approximately 2:00 pm.
