FREDERICK, Md. - Eastern Baseball began its second conference series on Friday with a 8-3 road loss to the Hood College Blazers. The Eagles (11-6, 1-4) battled back from an early 2-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, but Hood (9-9, 4-0) used a six-run eighth frame, taking advantage of six hits and a pair of Eastern errors to remain undefeated in MAC Commonwealth play.
The Blazers struck first with runs in the first and third frames. Amrit Brown scored Kamari Chisolm on a sacrifice fly in the first, and AJ Haines followed with a sacrifice fly of his own in the third to put the home team up 2-0. The Eagles' offense produced a pair of runs in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
Thomas Kozlusky began the inning by reaching second on an infield error.
JJ Matos scored Kozlusky on an RBI single to make it 2-1, and
Trent MacDougall followed with a two-out double down the left field line to tie the contest at 2-2.
The Blazers took control in the eighth inning with six runs, four of which came with two outs. Eastern committed a pair of errors in the inning, which allowed Hood to send 10 batters to the plate.
Matt McSorley scored on a wild pitch in the ninth, but the Eagles would not draw any closer.
Matos and MacDougall combined for three hits and both RBIs for Eastern.

Matthew Gonglik, and
Trevor Harris also recorded hits.
Brady Maerz was effective again in relief, pitching three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
The Eagles return home tomorrow to conclude their series with Hood in a doubleheader at The Yard. First pitch is set for 12 noon.
