ASTON, Pa. - Eastern Women's Tennis played a competitive match against Neumann on Tuesday for the second time this season, but ultimately dropped a 6-1 decision the Knights.
Kiley McHugh won her fourth singles match of the year to secure Eastern's lone point.
McHugh, playing at No. 5 singles, lost just five games in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Neumann's Molly McGee. McHugh is now tied with
Anisah Smith for the most wins for an Eastern Women's Tennis player in singles matches this season.
Smith and
Kayleigh Achenbach each played to tiebreakers at No. 2 singles and No. 4 singles, respectively, but Neumann came out top in both matches. At No. 1 doubles, Smith, together with
Trinity Gruber, won 6-2 over Neumann's Kayleigh DellaVecchi and Alura Troilo, improving their record to 3-3 as a team on the season. However, the Eagles failed to secure wins at the other two doubles spots. Grace Schreiver and
Anaya Birch played a competitive match at No. 3 doubles, but came up two points short, 7-5.
Eastern Women's Tennis returns to conference this Saturday against York at the Eastern Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 11:00 am.
