CAMDEN, N.J. - On Friday night, Eastern Men's Tennis improved its spring record to 2-0 with an 8-1 victory over the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors. The Eagles won all six singles matches, which featured two winsvia tiebreakers, and two out of three doubles matches.
Jeffrey Day won in two sets at No. 1 singles, winning the first set 7-0 via tiebreaker before grabbing an easier 6-2 victory in the second set.
Peter Folga lost just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, and
Jacob Craig battled back from a 3-7 tiebreaker loss in set one to win the final two 6-2 and 6-3.
At No. 4 singles,
Ethan Goonewardene won in straight sets, 7-5 via tiebreaker and 6-4, and
Shane Witzer emerged victorious, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Fredy Rodriguez completed the singles sweep with an 8-0 win at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Goonewardene and Craig won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, and Day and Witzer came away with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Eastern (2-3) will be back in action this coming Wednesday, March 27 at DeSales. The Eagles were originally scheduled to take on Immaculata at home tomorrow, but the match was postponed due to incoming inclement weather.
