IMMACULATA, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Volleyball hit an impressive .376 in an efficient three-set win at Immaculata University.
Logan Martin had eight kills on nine attacks to lead the Eastern attack.
Though Immaculata (5-2) and Eastern are separated by just a little more than eight miles of Lancaster Ave., the two volleyball programs had not played since the two schools were both members of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference in 2007. The Eagles won that match as well, but at that point in the history of college volleyball, they needed to score 30 points to win a set.
The Eagles set the tone early with sixteen kills in the first set. Martin was a perfect 5-for-5 with a block,
Emma Flores added four kills, and
Bridgette Kelly had three kills on five swings in her only set played. The Eagles received only eight serves on the way to a 25-8 win.
Head Coach
Mark Birtwistle made line-up changes for the second set, but the Eagles were still efficient in earning sideouts. Flores and
Jailene Lugo each had three kills in the second set. Elle Jiron-Bujande did the setting early before giving way to
Kyra Kisting. The Eagles earned a 25-15 win in the second set.
Jiron-Bujanda finished with 19 assists, Kisting had ten and
Lindsay Addink added three assists in the third set.
Grace Casagrande finished with a match-high 18 digs.
The Eagles made more line-up changes and hit .409 in the third.
Hannah Pringle had six kills on eight swings in the third.
The Eagles (7-2) will practice tomorrow and play a pair of matches at Rowan University on Saturday.
