Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Falls at Home to No. 17 Cabrini

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Nicholas Fanelli notched his 200th career point, but highlights were scarce as Eastern University Men's Lacrosse dropped a 19-8 result against the seventeenth ranked Cabrini University Cavaliers. Cabrini won 17-of-19 first-half faceoffs and used that edge in possession to build a 13-4 lead at the break.

The Cavaliers scored three times in the first five minutes before the Eagles found some life with a man-up goal from Nicholas Fanelli near the middle of the period. Luc Trudel picked up the assist on the goal. After the Cavaliers answered. Fanelli hit his milestone with an assist to Nick Litzenberger. With his five-point day today, Fanelli has 123 goals and 80 assists in his career. He is third in total points, goals and assists.

Cabrini held a 5-2 lead at the end of a quarter. Fanelli hit the pipe on a shot as time expired in the frame, and as the rain started to fall, the Cavalier lead grew. The visitors scored eight of the next nine goals in the game to build a 13-3 lead with three minutes left in the half. The only Eastern goal in the burst came on a long clearing pass from Ethan Myers to Fanelli to beat the Cabrini ride.

Trudel scored the final goal of the first half, and the Eagles found a little life with the first two goals of the third quarter. Litzenberger and Avery Porter tallied to close the gap to 13-6. The Cavaliers answered that goal and the game stayed at 14-6 for a while as both teams defended well and had to deal with deteriorating conditions. After two Cabrini goals in the final two minutes, Fanelli tucked away his third of the day with seven seconds left in the third.

Connor Evans came on for Myers in the second quarter and made six stops in 30 minutes of relief. Cabrini starter Connor Watts earned the win with seven saves in 46 minutes.

The Eagles (3-6) start into MAC Commonwealth play and are at Albright on Wednesday and will return home fnext Saturday for a noon game against Widener.
