Men's Volleyball Dominates Neumann for Second Win

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Coming off its hard-fought tri-match over the weekend, Eastern Men's Volleyball (2-2) bounced back in a big way with a dominant three-set sweep of Neumann at the NEST (25-13, 25-13, 25-8) on Tuesday evening. The Eagles hit .385 as a team and finished the match with 38 kills and 10 service aces.

Sophomore Max Bagileo feasted in the middle, leading the Eagles with nine kills on 14 swings for a .571 hitting percentage. Senior Justin Flor continued his hot start with seven terminations and a team-high six service aces. Andres Suarez Batista and Jeremiah Pha each recorded six kills, while Lucas Adam and Tiger Winston added five and four, respectively. Chris Miller orchestrated the offense with 31 assists, while Max Bushong led the defensive effort with 11 digs.

"It was a good night to work on those aspects of the game that require a competitive environment," Eastern Head Coach Harry Bitzberger said. "I was really impressed with everyone's play tonight."

After Neumann (0-4) scored the first point, Eastern rattled off six straight points, which included four kills, to take a lead it would not relinquish. The Eagles' offense continued to hum, building a 17-4 advantage before cruising to a 25-13 win. Flor started off strong with four kills and two service aces in the opening set.

The Eagles were at their most efficient in the second set. Eastern finished with 11 kills in 16 swings and just one error while compiling a .625 hitting percentage. Bagileo led the Eagles with four kills, while Flor finished with three to go along with two more service aces. Suarez Batista and Winston each added two terminations apiece as the Eagles won set two 25-13.

Eastern built an 11-6 lead in the third set before ripping off nine straight points to put the contest out of reach. The Eagles hit .385 and finished with 13 more kills in the final set.

The Eagles will wrap its five-match home stand on Thursday when they host the Elizabethtown Blue Jays. The contest is set to begin at 7:00 pm.
