READING, Pa. - Despite several quality chances, Eastern Women's Soccer played Alvernia to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening. The Eagles finished the contest with eight shots, three on target and four early in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Eastern recorded the first four shots of the match, all coming in first 15 minutes of action.
Sydney Koncsol's first offering went high, while
Lindsay Kline and
Paige Snell pushed their shots wide right. The Golden Wolves weathered the early storm and did not allow the Eagles to take another shot in the first half.
Alvernia flipped the switch after halftime, outshooting the Eagles 14-4, which included six shots on frame.
Brooke Moskey was up to the task. The first-year goalkeeper saved all six shots she faced, two in the final six minutes, to record the second shutout of her collegiate career.
The Eagles put three shots on frame in the second half, one each Kline, Koncsol, and
Leah Mowery, but were unable to solve Alvernia goalkeeper Brynn Bock.
"Hard-fought battle on both sides tonight," Eastern Head Coach
Jess Shanahan said. "Brooke was phenomenal in net for us, and Sydney played extremely well up to. We are looking to regroup and get dialed in on a challenging matchup this Saturday."
Eastern will be back at Olson Field this coming Saturday against MAC Commonwealth foe York. The contest is set to begin at 12:30 pm.
