Women's Soccer Falls to York on Senior Day

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Soccer dropped a 3-0 decision to York College on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Nest. Holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, the visitors dominated the second half and scored two goals in an eight-minute span to earn the victory.

Eastern's Kylah Morales, one of five Eagle seniors honored on Saturday, recorded the game's first shot, but the Spartans held Eastern without a shot the rest of the opening half. After a close midfield battle early, York quickly gained advantage in both possession and field position. In the 24th minute, York's Anna Morton broke the scoreless tie, firing a ball low right and past Eastern goalkeeper Brooke Moskey to put the Spartans up 1-0.

York came out firing in the second half with six shots in the first six minutes of action. The sixth found twine as Ashlynn Weger scored off a corner kick to put the Spartans up 2-0. Alyssa Russelll added an insurance goal in the 59th minute, scoring on a breakaway opportunity.

Sophomore Anna Kidder recorded the two best chances for the Eagles in the second half, but neither found the back of the net. Her first was saved off a corner kick in the 77th minute, and her second chance was saved by the York goalkeeper in the 85th minute.

York outshot Eastern 25-5, which included a 19-4 advantage in the second half and a 15-2 edge in shots on goal. Kidder led the Eagles with three shots, two on target.

The Eagles will close out their home slate on  Wednesday, Oct. 26 against Albright. The contest is set to begin at 3:30 pm.
