Women's Soccer Falls to Albright in Home Finale

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - In its final home and MAC Commonwealth match of the season on Wednesday, Eastern Women's Soccer conceded a pair of second-half goals, one right after halftime and another in the 85th minute, in a 2-1 loss to Albright. Eastern held a 1-0 lead after the first 45 minutes, but could not find the back of the net after halftime.

After back-and-forth possession in the first half, Sydney Koncsol was able to break the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute. Moving the ball swiftly through the box, Madelyn Mullen feathered the ball across to Koncsol, who was able to get her right foot on the ball just enough to squeeze it past Albright goalkeeper Alexis Solt. For Koncsol, it was her first goal of the season, while Mullen recorded her team-leading fourth assist of the campaign.

Out of halftime, however, the Lions wasted little time in tying the contest up. Just 38 seconds into the period, Mackenzie Sowers found Caroline Perry in space in the middle of the field. Perry was able to split the Eastern defense and fire a ball past Brooke Moskey to tie the contest at 1-1.

The two teams continued to battle in the second half, with neither able to gain a significant advantage. However, a questionable foul call just outside the box gave Albright a golden chance to take the lead. Alexis Baez took advantage of the opportunity, rocketing a shot into the back of the net to secure the victory.

Leah Mowery led the Eagles with three shots, while Koncsol, Anna Kidder, and Lauryn Laning each finished with one.

Eastern will wrap up its regular season on Saturday at Lancaster Bible. The contest is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
