Durning Named to USILA All-America List

LOUISVILLE, Ky.– The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) today released its All-America Lists for Division III Men's Lacrosse. Eastern University's Chris Durning was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American as a Long Stick Midfielder (LSM).

Despite not taking faceoffs, Durning led the MAC Commonwealth with 8.07 ground balls per game. He finished second in the league with 2.71 caused turnovers per game. The graduate student from Havertown holds the Eastern career record for both ground balls (437) and caused turnovers (129). He also scored three times and had three assists.

Durning's ability to collect ground balls put him in elite company. As the season neared the end, he was in the top-15 overall amongst all active players in all divisions of NCAA Lacrosse in career ground balls. He was the only player in that group that was not a faceoff specialist. While many of his ground balls came in support of Eastern's faceoff specialists, Durning showed an uncanny ability to win battles around the crease and to separate attacking players from the ball.

Durning was last year's MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men's Lacrosse

He is the sixth Eastern University player to be recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American. He joins Aaron Benz, Ron Johnson, Grant Ferguson, Dave Darling, and Jameal Hadeed in earning the honor. Ferguson and Hadeed each received the honor twice.
