LEBANON, Pa.– In less than ideal conditions, Eastern University Men's Golf got a first look at Iron Valley Golf Club, the site of the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championships. The Eagles battled cold and horribly gusting winds to finish second at a preview meet hosted by Lebanon Valley College. Zach Bruecks led the Eagles with a 75.

Bruecks made four birdies on the way to his 3-over round. Both he and Nicky Marrollo, who carded a 77, struggled on the 401 yard opening hole. Bruecks made double, and Marrollo posted a triple-bogey seven as the wind was blowing balls around the green.

"It was extremely cold and windy conditions today," Head Coach Drew Patterson said after the round. "The first four holes we probably had 40 mph winds. It was absurd. The ball wouldn't sit still on the green at first. Anyway, the guys battled the course and played well considering the conditions."

Devin Cooper came in 79, and Max Moore finished with an 83 as the Eagles posted a 314 total. York College won the Invitational with a 302. All eight MAC Commonwealth teams were at the event.

"We are getting better at making smarter decisions and knowing where to be," Patterson continued. "It was good to see the course for conference. It is no easy course. It was in good shape and really nice. We're excited to compete there and are hoping for better weather when we get back here next weekend. We just need to keep pushing our short game to become better and we will get there as a team. On a course like this, managing our mistakes and avoiding doubles will be key for us. I think the guys are excited and pumped to play Ledgerock on Tuesday and then our conference championship."
