Women's Basketball Runs Past Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Eastern University Women's Basketball put together big offensive periods in the first and third quarters to run away to a 78-54 win at Delaware Valley University. Jaelyn Harris scored a game-high 20 points and all five Eastern starters scored in double figures as the Eagles picked up an important road win int he league.

How It Happened:
Minika Glenn scored eight of her 18 points in the first 70 seconds of the game as the Eagles jumped to an 8-1 lead out of the gate. With Jaelyn Harris hitting from the outside and Viki Kneis scoring inside, the Eastern led grew to 28-12 at the end of the period. Harris scored made three 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the quarter. Kneis had six points.

The Eagles (6-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom)  started the second quarter well enough with Harris connecting on two 3-pointers and Da'Naziah Brown hitting another to push the Eastern lead to 37-17 with eight minutes to play in the half. The Eagles, however, were unable to score another basket in the half as the hosts closed the gap to 39-26 at the break.

Glenn started the second half much like she started the first, the junior guard scored seven points in the first three minutes as the Eagles opened the second half on an 11-to-2 run.

The Eastern lead grew to thirty points on several occasions in the fourth and the Eastern defense kept Del Val from coming back.

Kay Wulah had 14 rebounds and 14 points. Brown had 11 points and Kneis finished with ten points. The Eagles shot 47 percent from the field and knocked down 8-of-22 three-pointers. Jaelyn Harris hit five of those.

Shayne Glenn led the Aggies (1-11, 0-2) with 19 points.

Coach Houston Says:
"That was a great team win on both sides of the floor. We played very good defense and used transition to get into a good offensive flow It is big to put five players in double-figures, and to have Kay step up in the second half."
