MADISON, N.J.– Eastern University Men's Tennis won 3-of-6 singles matches, but the Eagles were unable to recover from a slow start in doubles in a 6-3 loss at FDU-Florham (10-6, 2-2 MAC Freedom).
How It Happened:
The Eagles (6-5, 1-3 MAC Freedom) dropped decisions in the first two doubles matches off the court.
Cole Patti and NIck Wool had a match point point in their test at second doubles, but the duo could not convert and fell 8-7 in a tiebreaker.
Nick Humes and
Karl Finkbeiner each picked up three-set wins in their singles matches. Humes, playing at second singles dropped his first set 7-5 and trailed 4-2 in the second set. He won the final four games in the second set to force a super-tiebreaker. He won 10-5 in a super-breaker to secure his point.
At fourth singles, Finkbeiner also dropped his first set. After losing 6-2, he bounced back with a 6-2 win to even the match. He trailed 7-4 in the super-tiebreaker before winning six points in a row to claim the match, 10-7.
Nick Wool was dominant with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the fifth singles spot.
Coach Spangler Says:
"We were up 3-0 in first doubles and faltered. We were unable to hold serve in that match. Missing a chance on match point in second doubles really hurt our chances of picking up a win.
Nick Humes played well in his matches.
