Bats Alive for Baseball in 15-4 Home Win

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– After a tough weekend at the dish, the Eastern Baseball hitters found their stride in a 15-4 home win over Marywood. All nine starting hitters got at least one hit as the Eagles pounded out 21 singles in the win.

How It Happened:
Nelson Ocasio took the ball to start the game. The rookie right-hander hit a batter with one-out in the first, but worked around it with a strikeout and a good play on a ground ball right back up the middle. The ball hit his foot on a bounce, but he bounced off the mound and threw to first to retire the side.

The Eagles scored two runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning. Britton Lawrence drove in Liam Clarke with a sacrifice fly, and Brady DiGiacomo scored ona two-out single by Mickey Foytik.

After Ocasio worked a scoreless second, the Eagles tacked on four runs on five hits in the second. DiGiacomo drove in a run in the inning with a two-out double to center. It was the Eagles only extra-base hit of the afternoon.

The Pacers (4-18) got two runs back on a two-out home run in the third, but Ocasio was able to limit the damage with three strikeouts in the inning. After the Eagles left the bases loaded without scoring a run in the third, the Pacers scored another run on only a single hit in the fourth before the Eagles put the game away with a four-run fourth. Matt McHale knocked in a pair with bases-loaded single.

Collyn Hoffer came on in the fifth and pitched three scoreless innings. The sophomore right-hander struck out one, but only allowed one hit and one walk. Jay Crawford finished the game with two scoreless frames.

McHale, Shane Albertson, Jordan Laboy, and Clarke allhad three hit days.

Coach Renauro Says:
"Our hitters made a huge adjustment today. We worked really hard on being balanced and quieting our eyes at the plate. That showed with the line drives and hard ground balls we hit today. We played a pretty clean game in the field and filled up the zone with strikes with our relievers. We will continue to work on our quiet approaches this week before a big weekend series. "

Up Next:
The Eagles (9-17) host Delaware Valley University on Friday to start a three-game set with the Aggies. After playing the doubleheader at Delaware Valley on Saturday, the Eagles will host Manhttanville for a nine-inning game on Sunday.
