CENTER VALLEY, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Tennis saw its three-match winning streak snapped in windy conditions at DeSales. The Bulldogs claimed the 8-1 win in the MAC Freedom opener for both sides.
How It happened:
With top singles player
Nick Humes out doing duty as a member of the National Guard, The Eagles were forced to move their lineup around for the match. The Eagles top two doubles teams stayed the same and the Eagles wound up on the short end of 8-5 decisions in both. The Bulldogs rolled to an 8-0 win at the third doubles spot.
Ryan Hamilton moved up to the top singles spot and put together a good stretch in the second set of his match. He fell 6-0, 7-5.
Cole Patti moved up to the third spot. After winning the opening set 6-3, he dropped a tough three set match with a 6-4 loss in the final set.
Karl Finkbeiner was the Eagles only winner on the day. The junior moved up to the third spot and won 6-4, 6-3.
The Bulldogs won the final three matches in straight sets.
Coach Spangler Says:
"Ryan and Karl played well at first doubles, they were able to get a break on us, and that was the difference. It was a tough day to play. We had some good moments, but we were not able to keep those moments going. Having Nick[Humes] here changes things, but we have to be more consistent in our play."
