ROSEMONT, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis (2-0) ground out a 5-4 win at Rosemont College. With the match tied at 4-4, Nicole Hege was the only Eagle left on the court. The junior, playing in her first competitive singles match, was up a set and tied 4-4 in the second. She won the next two games at no. 6 singles to secure the match.
How It Happened:
The Eagles won two-of-three doubles matches to have the edge heading to singles.
Emma Paugh and
Lauren Good dominated with an 8-0 win at first doubles.
Cara Degnan and
Emily Stevens, on the other hand, had a battle at second doubles. The duo escaped with a 9-7 win at that spot. Hege and
Allison Ryan also had a battle at third doubles. they came out on the short end of a 9-7 result.
In singles, Paugh and Good cruised to wins at the first two spots. Paugh did not drop a game and Good won 6-0, 6-1. Stevens, Degnan, and Ryan all dropped their singles matches to set the stage for the heroics from Hege.

"Emma and Lauren controlled their matches very well. Rosemont was pretty even through their line-up and we needed Nicole to earn a point at no.6. She did a good job closing out the match."
