ASTON, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Soccer scored three goals in the first sixteen minutes and held on to claim a 3-1 win at Neumann University.
Alondra Cervantes scored twice to lead the Eastern attack.
How It Happened:
Nicole Weenink picked up a ball in space on the left side of the field in the third minute. The junior forward dropped her inside shoulder and drove behind the last Neumann defender toward goal. She reached the box and curled a right-footed shot to the back post for her third goal of the the year.
Less than three minutes later, Kayla Pattitucci sent in a cross from the right side. Cervantes beat her mark to the ball at the back post and poked home her second tally of the year for a 2-0 lead. Cervantes finished the Eastern scoring with a header off a
Zoe Galvin corner kick in the 17th minute.
Adrianna Rowlands made four of her nine saves in the first half. The Knights had a 9-3 edge in shots after the intermission, but they were unable to get one past Rowalnds until the 88th minute.
Eastern is now 11-0 against Neumann since 1999.
Coach West Says:
"It was great to find a way to win, but I think we struggled to place a value on the ball. We are in the process of making some significant changes, and I think we need some more time to train and learn."
"Adrianna had a great game in goal, and we were able to get some good contributions off our bench, which was good to see. We had a competitive spirit today and we are excited to train and get better for next week."

Eastern (3-5) will travel to Penn State Abington on Tuesday, It will be the first meeting between the two programs.
