CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Eastern University Men's Lacrosse rallied from a 4-3 halftime deficit to earn an 8-5 MAC Freedom win at DeSales. The victory keeps the Eagles (6-6, 3-0 MAC Freedom) unbeaten in the MAC Freedom and gives them wins over the other three teams that made the post-season last spring.
Zach Bauer continued to dominate faceoffs in conference play with a remarkable 16-of-17 performance. Bauer has won 45-of-56 in Eastern's three league wins. He had ten ground balls in the win and is up to 59.6 percent on faceoffs for the season.
Mark Buannic scored his second of the game less then two minutes into the second half to tie the game. The Eagles did not claim the lead for good, however, until
David Hipp found
Trevor Gallion for his third of the afternoon with 2:51 on the clock in the third. Gallion scored in the first and second periods as well.
Jimmy Kurnik scored in transition to close out the third period for the Eagles. Kurnik's goal with eight seconds on the clock was his second in two games. The insurance proved important when the Bulldogs closed the gap to 6-5 early in the fourth.
Jaked Billera restored the two-goal edge on a pass from
Hassan Mackey with just over three minutes to play. Mackey then gave the Eagles their only three-goal edge of the game with a goal off an assist from
Sean Fechter.
Jameal Hadeed, who made 25 saves in a home win against Misericordia midweek, made five saves to pick up the win. He also forced a pair of turnovers and secured a pair of ground balls. The Eastern defense kept the Bulldogs on the perimeter and only allowed ten shots on goal in the game.
Eastern is at Manhattanville on Wednesday afternoon.
