Women's Soccer Takes a Draw at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J.– Eastern University Women's Soccer held off the host FDU-Florham Devils (8-3-1, 0-1-1 MAC Freedom) to earn a 0-0 draw and pick up a point in the MAC Freedom standings. Adrianna Rowlands made 12 saves to earn the shutout in goal.

How it Happened:
The Devils had more chances and field position in the match, but the Eagles were able to limit the number of close opportunities and Rowlands was equal to the task.

The Eagles dodged  great chance in the 86th minute when FDU's Erika Pita hit the underside of the crossbar from 18yards out.

At the end of regulation, the Devils had a 28-4 edge in shots, but the score remained knotted at 0-0. Through the overtime, the Devils again had more of the ball, but the Eagles had moments of promise. The last of those came in the final seconds when Zoe Galvin hit a shot off a rebound from a Nicole Weenink effort.

The draw keeps the Eagles (5-6-1, 1-0-1) unbeaten in MAC Freedom games with big matches this week against Misericordia and Wilkes.

Coach West Says:
"I am really proud of the girls effort today and their ability to bend and not break and keep a shutout. We played with passion and heart today. With the field being short and narrow, it was hard to establish and rhythm and so we had to play more direct. Nicole [Weenink] and Amy [Radcliffe] had a great effort running down balls and pressing their back line. Our back three was great for 110 minutes, and Alondra and Zoe did great job defending in the midfield."

"Adrianna was unbelievable today.. She handled everything well and has four big saves to keep a shutout."

Up Next:
Eastern is at Misericordia on Wednesday before hosting Wilkes for homecoming on Saturday. The Cougars and Colonels are the other two unbeaten teams in the MAC Freedom.
