ST.DAVIDS, Pa.–
Carli Sitkowski scored in the 89th minute to force overtime for Eastern Women's Soccer in their non-confernence home match agaisnt Lancaster Bible College. Neither team could find the game-winner and the Eagles (2-4-3) remained unbeaten (1-0-3) in overtime games this fall.
Eastern had the better chances early, but despite a 6-5 edge in first half shots, the two teams went to intermission tied at 0-0.
Caroline Lozzi had the best chance of the opening half in the 13th minute after
Melanie Witter slipped a pass in behind the LBC back row. Charger goalkkeeper Rheeana Miles was quick off her line and saved Lozzi's effort near the top of the box.
The Eagles had a more decided advantage in possession in the second half, but it was the visitors who broke the tie. In the 82nd minute. Raegan Horst found space at the top of the box and fired a shot inside the right upright to put the Chargers ahead.
Eastern equalized after forcing the ball deep into LBC territory late.
Katy Laurie threw a ball back to Sitkowski, who settled the ball and launched a high serve toward
Nicole Weenink in the box. The ball slipped under the crossbar to tie the match.
Both teams had chances in overtime, but neither team was able to convert.
"We also looked a bit tired from our Wednesday game." Head Coach Brandon West said after the contest. "Our team did a great job of not losing belief. We got the last goal which was great. To be unbeaten in four overtime games is great. We need to get better with our ball movement in the attacking third and we need to value the ball a bit more and not force things as much."
Adrianna Rowlands made five saves in goal for Eastern.
The Eagles will host Alvernia University at 4:00 on Wednesday.
