Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Runs By Wilkes on Senior Day

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse scored nine-consecutive goals to close out the first half and pulled away to a 16-4 win over the visiting Wilkes University Colonels in a steady drizzle on Senior Day. The program honored seniors Anna Charlebois, Eva Ehrhardt, and Moriah Bourk before the game.

The Eagles were not bothered by the wind or the cold rain. Charlebois scored less than three minutes into the game, and Julie Haggan added her first of four goals two minutes later. The two-goal edge, however, was short-lived as Wilkes midfielder Jessyca Held won the draw control and went straight to goal for her first of three goals. Charlebois and Held traded goals before the Eagles began to open things up around the midway point of the opening half.

Haggan hit a cutting Liz Brennan for a 4-2 lead. Five minutes later, Bourk picked up her first assist of the year with a great pass to Charlebois on the doorstep. The Eagles seemed to sense the momentum change and the attack kicked into overdrive. Over the next ten minutes, Haggan scored twice, Liz Brennan scored four times, and Charlebois added a single tally. Each of the three had two assists in the stretch. Brennan scored the final goal of the half when the Eagles were down a player.

With a ten-goal halftime lead, the second half slowed down a bit. Bourk hit the base of the pipe twelve minutes into the half and had another shot drift just wide. Charlebois finished the game with five goals. With her final tally, Charlebois reached the 50-goal plateau for the third-straight year. Her 29 assists are more than she had in her first three years. She has 194 career goals and 251 career points.

With 64 goals this year, Liz Brennan is within range of becoming the sixth Eastern player and the first since 2010, to score 70 goals in a season. Current assistant coach Grace Griffith scored 71 in 2010.

Liz Brennan and Charlebois dominated draw controls in the game. Charlebois gathered five and Liz Brennan picked up six. The Eagles won 15-of-21 draws.

In addition to good offense, the Eagles had some great work from Alina Odjemski in goal. The junior starter made 12 stops and only allowed two goals in forty minutes of action. Sam Brennan had six caused turnovers and five ground balls, adn Ehrhardt had six caused turnovers in her final game on Olson Field.

The Eagles will finish their season at Delaware Valley on Saturday.
