Slow Start Costs Women's Lacrosse at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a 16-5 decision at Elizabethtown College. The host College Blue Jays grabbed 10-of-13 first period draws and converted that possession into a 12-1 lead through the first 30 minutes. Liz Brennan and Anna Charlebois each scored twice in the loss.

The game, according to Head Coach Kim Campbell, came down to winning draws.

"Elizabethtown is a strong team," she said, "They played a fast and high-pressure game, which I think is good for us to have seen going into conference. We have to be able to win more draws to beat quality teams." The Blue Jays had a 16-5 advantage on the draws for the game.

The Blue Jays (7-1) led 7-0 at the midpoint of the first half. A few seconds later, Sabrina Campbell fed Liz Brennan for the Eagles only goal of the first half. Elizabethtown scored their final goal of the period with 21 seconds left. Alina Odjemski made eight of her 11 saves in the first half.

Julie Haggan scored early in the second half, but Elizabethtown pulled to a 16-2 lead halfway through the second half before teh Eagles tallied the final three goals of the game.

Eastern (1-7) starts MAC Freedom competition against Misericordia next Wednesday. The Eagles will play their third home game of the year against the Cougars. That game will start at 4:00 pm.
