Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – Eastern Women's Tennis dropped a tough 5-4 decision to host Misericordia on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles will now be the third seed when they play in the Freedom Conference Semifinals.
Emma Paugh and
Amanda Riiff were the only Eastern team to score in doubles winning their match by the final of 8-1. With the win, the duo remains perfect on the year moving their record to 11-0 winning all 11 matches out of the second doubles spot.
Paugh and Riiff continued their dominance in the singles matches each winning in straight sets. Paugh moved to 11-3 overall in singles winning by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Riiff took the third singles match by scores of 7-5, and 6-2 to move to 10-2 overall for the season.
Kelly Archibald claimed the second singles match battling it out in three sets. Archibald claimed the first set 6-2 but dropped the second by the same score. In set three Archibald rolled to a 6-0 victory to capture her eleventh win of the season in singles.
"We played well today," said Head Coach
Mark Spangler. "I am confident that we can go back there on Tuesday and win. We know what to expect, and if we take care, the matches we need to take care of we will get to the finals."
Eastern travels back to Misericordia on May 3rd for the Freedom Conference Semifinals.
