Box Score ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Tennis blanked visiting Hood College on Thursday afternoon winning 9-0. The Eagles had players play together for the first time in doubles but swept matches and then cruised to victories in singles to move to 9-2 for the season.
In the first doubles match
Kelly Archibald and
Amanda Riiff were paired together for the first time all season but worked well together winning 8-6. Â "Amanda and Kelly played well, but it took a little while for them to get going and learn each other's tendencies in doubles," said Head Coach
Mark Spangler. "Their victory clinched the match for us today."Â
Leslie Henry and
Emma Paugh also were paired together for the first time as doubles partners and rolled to a convincing 8-1 victory. "Emma and Leslie played well together and won convincingly today," continued Spangler.Â
Paugh moved to 8-3 overall in singles this season winning the first singles match in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 6-0. Riiff would also win in straight sets winning by scores of 6-1, 6-1. With the victory, Riiff moves to 7-2 on the season winning all matches in the third singles spot.Â
"We cruised to some solid straight set wins in singles today," concluded Spangler. "We are looking ahead to Delaware Valley this Saturday and Misericordia the following Saturday."
Eastern travels to Delaware Valley on April 23rd for a 1 pm match. Â
